Assam Cabinet approves key decisions including Dassault collaboration, new recruitment drive for teachers

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 13 : The Assam Cabinet led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced key decisions for the state, including the transfer of illegal trading scam cases to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), partnering with Dassault to develop skilled professionals in aerospace, and launching a fresh recruitment drive for teachers, among other initiatives.
Taking to his official handle on microblogging site X, the Assam Chief Minister posted, "In today's meeting of the Assam Cabinet, we have taken some landmark decisions. This includes handing over the illegal trading scam cases to the CBI, and withdrawing 81,000 petty cases to decongest our prisons, collaboration with Dassault to build trained manpower in Aerospace."
"We have also decided to revamp Assam Zoo at a cost of Rs 362 crore, Rs 218 crore for a new flyover in Guwahati and a stadium in Kokrajhar, a new drive to recruit 4,669 teachers and the purchase of 100 MW of clean wind-solar hybrid power," read the post by Assam CM.
After the cabinet meeting, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a press meeting and spoke about the key decisions of the cabinet, saying, "The Assam Cabinet has decided to hand over cases pertaining to the fraudulent stock market scam to the CBI. A new SoP will be issued allowing police to take suo-moto action in such cases in the future."
Adding further, CM Sarma said, "Today's cabinet has approved 25,238 beneficiaries under the CMAAA scheme and they will get Rs 2 lakh each, they will not have to return Rs 1 lakh (Subsidy) and Rs 1 lakh (an interest-free loan for 5 years). From November 3 we will provide the amount to the newly selected beneficiaries."
"The cabinet has also approved Rs 107 crore for one stadium in Kokrajhar, and Rs 111 crore for a new flyover in Guwahati," added CM Sarma.
The Assam Chief Minister also spoke about the new recruitment drive for teachers in the state and said, "During the Congress regime, contractual teachers were appointed with a salary of Rs 12,000. In 2021, we extended the retirement age up to 60 years and near regularisation. Today the state cabinet has opened a pathway to regularise 4,669 teachers. For 10 days, the education department will publish an advertisement."
"We will start the flagship scheme Orunodoi 3.0 on September 19 this year. There will be 12.60 lakh new beneficiaries of the Orunodoi scheme. From September 19, our government will provide ration cards to 17 lakh new beneficiaries," added CM Sarma.
Earlier two people died while seven others were injured after police resorted to firing to control a mob who attacked police personnel and government officials during the eviction drive in the Kamrup (Metro) district of Assam, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Sarma said on Thursday that the eviction drive was conducted peacefully, but the situation became "worse" after Congress' interruption.
Around 22 police personnel and a revenue circle officer were injured in the incident that took place in the Sonapur area of Kamrup (Metro) district on Thursday.
On Thursday, Nitul Khataniar, Circle Officer of Sonapur Revenue Circle, who was also injured in the mob attack, told ANI over the phone that, when they reached the spot, around 1500 people 'gheraoed' them from two sides and started pelting stones and attacking the team.
Earlier, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration had conducted an eviction drive in that area against the illegal encroachers.
