Jun 25, 2024

Panaji (Goa) [India], June 26 : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday unveiled Goa-Industrial Development Corporation Exit Support scheme at Mantralaya in Porvorim, which allows sick industrial units to exit from the state.
The scheme was unveiled in the presence of state Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho and Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) chairman Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco.
The scheme targets around 12.75 lakh sq mt of land that remains unutilised because of sick industries.
Sawant said that with this initiative, interested entrepreneurs can get plots for their units, while job seekers will get employment. "Many seek industrial plots under the Industrial Development Corporation. Once the current leaseholders wish to exit, the new industries can enter and create employment."
He added that the Goa government encourages environment-friendly units. Interested businesspeople can take advantage of the streamlined process of transfer. With the new process, the non-functional units will become functional again.
The government has identified 423 sick units which have been lying unused for a long time. The Goa Chief Minister said, "As per our survey, these are totally sick units. These units can reap the benefits of the exit scheme which we did not have before this. I appeal to the new entrepreneurs to actively participate and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Goa-IDC Exit Support Scheme."
There are 24 industrial estates in Goa wherein the Industrial Development Corporation provides plots to the interested parties on lease.
Sawant added that the Corporation, in collaboration with the Goa Investment Promotion Board (Goa-IPB) and industry bodies, will organize Transferor-Transferee meetings and publicize available plots through various channels including newspapers and government websites.
Earlier, Sawant met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday at New Delhi and sought his guidance and support to build a Viksit Goa under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
