Haryana Assembly elections; PM Modi arrives at BJP headquarters for CEC meeting, party to finalize list of candidates

New Delhi [India], August 29 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived at the BJP headquarters to attend the party's Central Election Committee meeting for the Haryana Assembly Polls 2024.
According to BJP sources, priority is being given to candidates based on their winnability. Another BJP source said that BJP will prioritize local issues, publicize the work done at the local level, and distribute tickets based on caste equations, winnability, and popularity, sources said.
BJP leader and former Haryana minister, Anil Vij told the media regarding the Haryana core group meeting that "The state team made central leadership aware of all the things. Our party is a democratic party. Now central leadership will decide it in the Central Parliamentary Board...
Some Haryana leaders said that some former MPs who lost the Lok Sabha elections may also be given tickets. Leaders who have joined from other parties may also find a place in the BJP's list.
Several players may also get a place in the BJP's list of candidates, said sources.
Earlier today, a meeting of the BJP's core group to decide on candidates' list for Haryana's 90 assembly seats lasted for 5 hours at the residence of national president JP Nadda on Thursday.
Discussions were held on the selection of candidates. Union Minister Amit Shah, Manohar Lal Khattar, Krishan Pal Gurjar, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Anil Vij, Sudha Yadav, Captain Abhimanyu, Haryana election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, and Haryana in-charge Biplav Deb were present in the meeting.
Voting for 90 seats of the Haryana Assembly elections will be held on October, 1.
The results will be declared on October, 4.
Earlier on Tuesday, ahead of Haryana polls, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Chandra Shekhar Azad's Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) on announced their alliance.The alliance will contest on all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana with JJP competing on 70 seats while ASP on 20. Haryana will go to polls on October 1 in a single phase.
