Passing out parade of fourth batch of Agniveers to be held at INS Chilka on August 9

Khordha (Odisha) [India], August 5 : The passing out parade (POP) of the fourth batch of Agniveers will be held on August 9 at INS Chilka, the premier training establishment for Agniveers of the Indian Navy located in Odisha.
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff will review the passing out parade (POP) of the fourth batch of Agniveers at INS Chilka.

The post-sunset ceremony will see 1390 Agniveers including 216 women Agniveers taking the 'Antim Pag' from the hallowed portals of INS Chilka. Along with Naval Agniveers, 330 Coast Guard Naviks will also pass out on this occasion.

Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command will be the Conducting Officer of the parade. This momentous event will be witnessed by proud families of the passing-out Agniveers, eminent veterans and sports personalities.
The POP not only signifies the successful completion of 16 weeks of ab initio Naval training of the Agniveers but also their new voyage in the Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive and Future Ready Indian Navy.
The training at Chilka included training on academics, various facets of service and outdoor training based on the core values of duty, honour and courage. During the POP, deserving Agniveers would be presented with awards by CNS in various categories.
As part of the event, CNS will inaugurate new infrastructure buildings/ facilities attend the valedictory function of Agniveers and present awards to various divisions.
The POP will be streamed live on August 9, on the Indian Navy YouTube channel, Facebook page and regional Doordarshan network.
The Agnipath scheme was announced by the Centre in June 2022 and is designed to enable a youthful profile of the Armed Forces. Those recruited under the scheme are called 'Agniveers'.
The government has said there will be several jobs and other avenues open for the youth who are not retained in the defence forces after four years.
On completion of the four-year tenure, about 25 per cent of the Agniveers will be retained in the Indian Armed Forces as regular cadres for a minimum of 15 years. The remaining will get assistance for further employment avenues. The Agniveers will be given Rs 11.71 lakhs as Seva Nidhi Package on their exit, which will be exempted from Income Tax. However, there will be no pensionary benefits.
