UP DGP calls NIA Court's decision on illegal conversion case a milestone judgement

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 12 : After NIA/ATS Special Court convicted 16 accused in illegal religious conversion, DGP Prashant Kumar on Wednesday lauded the decision, saying that 'it will send a good message'.
"This action taken by ATS will send a good message in society that strict action is certain against illegal conversion. This is a very big judgment. We will take appropriate action against those who are involved in such illegal conversion against the rules," DGP Kumar said.
Earlier today, The NIA/ATS special court sentenced 12 accused to life imprisonment, including Maulana Kalim Siddiqui, in an illegal religious conversion case.
The court further sentenced the other four accused, Rahul Bola, Mannu Yadav, Kunal Ashok Chaudhary and Salim to 10 years of imprisonment along with fines according to the relevant sections imposed on them.
Special Judge Vivekanand Sharan Tripathi pronounced the sentence on 16 convicts.
Maulana Kalim Siddiqui was arrested in September 2021 for running a nationwide syndicate of illegal religious conversion racket.
DGP Kumar, informing about the case said, "These people used to run Islamic Dawa Center in Delhi. These people were running an illegal conversion racket by luring poor people and disabled people with money. Their agents were spread in Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab and other states. This entire case was exposed when one of their people was caught from Ghaziabad and when he was interrogated strictly, illegal conversion was revealed. When these things were told, the Uttar Pradesh Police informed the NIA of Uttar Pradesh and today it is a matter of joy that while revealing this case, a total of 16 people were produced in the court where they were given severe punishment. Out of these 16 people, 12 people have been sentenced to life imprisonment. has been sentenced to life imprisonment and other 4 people have been sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. The mastermind, Maulana Umar Gautam Qazi, Jahangir Alam Qazmi and Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Charge sheet was filed against 17 people in total. Out of this, the decision was given against one person by the Hon'ble High Court."
