Delhi: Domestic help steals cash, jewellery worth Rs 10 crore, apprehended

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): Delhi Police has arrested one domestic help identified as Mohan Kumar and his accomplices suspected to be juveniles for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 10 crore and cash from a house in Punjabi Bagh. Complainant reported to the police that he along with his family members went to the USA to attend a family function there. While departing to the USA, he handed over the house keys under faith and trust to their domestic servant Mohan Kumar to take care of his house in his absence as he was working as a servant for the last five years. On July 18, he was informed by his other servants and relatives that Mohan Kumar committed theft at his house and stole their Hyundai Creta car, gold and diamond jewellery worth 10 crores and cash. During the investigation, when police checked CCTV footage near the place of the incident wherein accused was seen carrying a suitcase in the complainant’s car that was parked at the residence. He drove this car to Ramesh Nagar Metro Station where he abandoned the car. One other person was also found coming out of the car. On the basis of technical surveillance, the second person was identified as the distant relative of the accused Mohan Kumar. The police went to Bihar where the distant relative was arrested and at his instance, the accused Mohan Kumar was also arrested. A huge quantity of stolen gold and diamond jewellery along with cash were also recovered from their possession.
