Gujarat Energy Minister Kanu Desai unveils renewable energy roadmap for Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), December 22 (ANI): Ahead of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, Gujarat Energy Minister Kanu Desai shared Gujarat’s stand in renewable and solar energy. He also highlighted the pivotal role of Gujarat in the renewable energy and solar rooftop sector during the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024. Kanu Desai said, “Gujarat’s wind power capacity stands at 11,000 MW and Solar power’s capacity is 10,000 MW. Gujarat is the second state in India for renewable energy. Gujarat’s total install capacity including wind, solar and thermal is 48,500 MW and it is the biggest installation in India. As per installation capacity, Gujarat stands highest. When PM Modi announced in a world conference that in 2070, there will be zero carbon in world. India will produce electricity of 500 MW through renewable, Gujarat will contribute 100 GW.”“Now, under Vibrant 2024, there is a strong emphasis on hydrogen production with renewable energy, and the major investment in Vibrant 2024 is in renewable and semi-conductor technologies,” he added. Addressing the global commitment to carbon neutrality, Desai mentioned PM Modi's vision for a carbon-free world by 2070. Gujarat has set ambitious targets, aiming to generate 100 GW of electricity from renewables by 2030, aligning with the national goal of 500 GW by the same year.
