India carries out successful maiden test of AD-1 interceptor missile for Ballistic Missile Shield

APJ Abdul Kalam Island (Odisha), Nov 02 (ANI): India has successfully conducted Maiden Flight Test of Phase-II Ballistic Missile Defence interceptor AD-1. The test was conducted from Dr Abdul Kalam Island, located off the coast of Odisha on November 02. The flight test was carried out with the participation of all BMD weapon system elements. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO for the successful flight trial of AD-1. AD-1 is a long-range interceptor missile designed for both low exo-atmospheric and an endo-atmospheric interception. It is equipped with an indigenously developed advanced control system, navigation and guidance algorithm.
