J&K: Construction of Government Medical College in full swing at Handwara in Kupwara district

Handwara (J&K), Nov 29 (ANI): The construction work of the new Government Medical College (GMC) at Handwara in Kupwara district of North Kashmir is going at full pace. The central government gave its approval for a new Government Medical College to be attached to the district Hospital Handwara in 2019. The GMC at Handwara is being set up at a cost of Rs 325 crores under a centrally-sponsored scheme. While talking to ANI Farooq Ahmad Shah, Executive Engineer R&B Handwara said, “The total project cost of the GMC is about 325 crores and, besides GMC nursing college and Nursing hostel and upgradation of old Handwara sub-district hospital comes under this prestigious project.” He further said that 16 buildings will be constructed under this project and presently construction work on 6 buildings is going on. The locals lauded the step taken by the Lieutenant Governor administration as this new facility will provide them with better medical treatment.
