Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker from Karnataka, Srikanta Pujari was arrested on December 31 in connection with the Babri Masjid demolition riots of 1992. The BJP Workers raised slogans against the Congress government, held anti-Congress slogans, and demanded Srikanta’s release. BJP leaders of Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra, and Sadananda Gowda were present in Bengaluru during the protest.Congress leader Jagadish Shettar spoke on the arrest of RSS Worker Srikanta Pujari and said that the case was pending for a long time and has been opened to solve the long-lasting issue instead of the purpose of harassing the BJP of the state. "It is a 30-year-old case and even BJP ruled the state for so many years, I think 7-8 years but at that time why they did not think about withdrawing all these cases against the Hindu activists...It (the case) is not intentionally opened for harassment purposes. The case has been pending for a long time, so there must be some direction from the courts as well. Police took action after looking at all the aspects," said Jagadish Shettar.
