Jul 27, 2024
Kathmandu (Nepal), July 25 (ANI): At least 18 people were killed after a plane crashed and caught fire while it was taking off from Nepal's capital, Kathmandu on July 24. But in the tragic incident, the captain of the plane survived becoming the only ‘sole survivor’ who is currently receiving treatment at hospital. The ‘pilot’ was rescued from the burning wreckage by rescuers and officials present at ground. The Saurya Airlines plane crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) as it blazed while taking off. The plane, carrying two crew members and 17 technicians, was going for regular maintenance to Nepal's Pokhara airport. Following the mishap, firefighters rushed to tragedy site carry out the post-crash operations through the charred remains of plane. The recent plan crash has raised questions on Nepal's aviation industry which has a poor safety record that has claimed lives of 300 people since 2000.
