Telangana govt procures paddy from farmers, pays directly into accounts

Hyderabad (Telangana) Oct 27 (ANI): Telangana Government purchased paddy direct from farmers. For this purpose, the government established paddy procurement centre (PPC) in every village in the state. FCI’s data shows rice procurement from Telangana went up from 35.96 lakh metric tonnes in 2016-17 to 94.54 metric tonnes by 2020-21. FCI’s total parboiled rice procurement stood at 88.37 lakh tonnes for Kharif and Rabi combined in 2020-21. Out of this, 48.85 lakh tonnes were procured from Telangana alone, which is more than 50 per cent of the total procurement of parboiled rice. Agriculture Officer Suresh Goud said, “Every season on the order of Telangana government, we are establishing paddy procurement centre (PPC) in every village, due to which farmers are getting more benefits.” A beneficiary of PCC, Mohammed Babar said, “Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government is doing well for farmers in Telangana state and with the help of PPC, farmers are getting direct and full amount on paddy.”
