Union Home Minister Amit Shah lays foundation stone of new air terminal at Gwalior

The union minister of home affairs Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia terminal in the presence of several high profile dignitaries in Gwalior. A large crowd gathered in city’s Mela ground to virtually witness the groundbreaking ceremony. The chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narendra Singh Tomar, senior national and state leaders and officials also participated in the event. Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the new terminal which will be built over 180 acres of land is the future of Gwalior. He also highlighted the air connectivity Gwalior will have with rest of the country in coming times. The new airport terminal will be constructed within a few metres from the existing airport building. It will be 20,000 square metres in size and can accommodate 1400 peak hour passengers. The initiative to build a new air terminal will cost 450 crores. Additionally, the new terminal will feature parking space for 4 ATR 72-type aircraft and 9 Airbus 320-type aircraft. In addition, a freight terminal will be built to support local businesses.
