New Delhi [India], September 4 : A large number of people gathered outside Govindpuri police station in Delhi on Tuesday, demanding action in connection with the alleged abduction and sodomizing of a 6-year-old boy.
The police assured the crowd of strict action against the accused after locals staged a protest and raised slogans.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 1. The boy was allegedly abducted from the Govindpuri area and sodomized by the accused, who later abandoned him at an isolated location.
The police registered a case for the missing/kidnapping of the boy on September 1.
On September 3, the boy's family approached the police and lodged a complaint alleging inappropriate touching by the accused.
Later that evening, the police received a PCR call alleging that a 5-year-old child was sodomized and requesting assistance. Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that the call had been made by the victim's family, the police said.
The police arrested the accused, who is the victim's neighbour, on Tuesday.
During the arrest, the public attacked the accused while he was taken to police station and created a ruckus. The situation was brought under control only after intervention by senior officials.
