Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 9 : Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh, Jairam Thakur, on Saturday took potshots at Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stating that it has been nine months since this government came to power and people are waiting for the government to fulfil its promises.
According to an official statement, LoP Jairam Thakur said that it has been nine months since the government came to power, now people are in no mood to listen to its false promises, they are waiting for the government to fulfil its promises.
"LoP Thakur asked CM Sukhu what happened to the promise to make Himachal Pradesh the first 'green' state. The CM made several claims about making the state the first 'green' state in the country. He had announced a subsidy for private bus owners to buy an electric bus, tell the state how many owners have been granted the subsidy", the statement added.
"After taking an oath, the CM won applause by making claims on turning the state a 'green energy region'. He also made a lot of headlines but forgot about it after that. He had made these promises without any concrete plan. So, they have not been implemented yet. 'Green energy' is the future of the state and the government should take steps towards it", it said.
Further, Thakur said that the Sukhu government had targeted to set up solar plants of 200 Mega Watt in the next nine months and those of 500 Mega Watt by the end of 2024. He also announced the development of two Panchayats of every district as 'green' Panchayats.
"The Chief Minister had announced a subsidy of Rs 25,000 for girls on purchasing electric scooters. He said that the green hydrogen policy would be implemented. He also said that a subsidy of Rs 50 lakh would be granted for purchasing private e-buses or e-trucks. It has been six months since the budget was brought. CM Sukhu should respond on the subsidy granted so far in the state", LoP Thakur said.
It is worth mentioning that December 2022, the Congress government came to power in Himachal Pradesh having secured 40 out of 68 seats in the legislative assembly polls. The BJP secured 25 seats.
