AAP has emerged as the most corrupt political party: BJP's Tarun Chugh

Oct 06, 2023

New Delhi [India], October 6 : A day after the Enforcement Directorate arrested AAP MP Sanjay Singh for his alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor policy scam, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh launched a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, calling his party the 'most corrupt political party' and adding 'Modi government would not spare anybody in the matter'.
"AAP has emerged as the most corrupt political party, and the Modi government would not spare anybody in the matter," Chugh said.
Talking about the Delhi liquor scam, the BJP leader said the Kejriwal government had caused a loss of revenue worth crores of rupees to the Delhi government, and the investigations into the matter will be driven by the law of the land, and no accused, however big he might be, would be spared in the process.
Chugh questioned the manner in which the Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal altered the excise policy in such a manner that it became a big scam for the nation's capital.
He said, "The liquor scam in Delhi had briefly found its expression in Punjab as well, but it fell flat due to the vigilant eyes of the people of the state."
Chug alleged that "gross irregularities were done to tamper with the excise system in Delhi, for which Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is answerable."
Never in the country has a scam of this scale come about, said the BJP leader, adding that it must become a lesson for political leaders trying to play double games in the name of people's welfare.
The Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday sent Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh to remand till October 10, 2023, in connection with the now scrapped Delhi excise policy or liquor scam case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday arrested Sanjay Singh after a day-long questioning by the ED officials at his Delhi residence.
The Special Judge MK Nagpal after noting the lengthy submissions made by ED and Defense, decided to send Sanjay Singh to 5 days ED remand.
The arrest of Sanjay Singh is the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.
The federal agency on Wednesday morning raided the residence of AAP leader Sanjay Singh in connection with the now-canceled liquor excise policy in the national capital. The development followed closely on the heels of the ED's raid on the premises belonging to two of Sanjay Singh's close aides in the same context.
The agency claims that Singh and his partners played a part in the Delhi government's decision to give licenses to alcohol shops and merchants in 2020, causing losses to the state exchequer and violating anti-corruption laws.
