Administration almost 'manhandled' Mehbooba Mufti, didn't allow her to hold peaceful protest for Palestine: Iltija Mufti

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), October 24 : Media advisor to People's Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti, Iltija Mufti, on Tuesday claimed that the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir was almost 'manhandled' when she tried to hold a peaceful protest in support of Palestine amid war with Israel.
Addressing a press conference, Iltija Mufti, who is also the daughter of Mehbooba Mufti further questioned the Jammu and Kashmir local administration, asking why it has consistently cracking down on the PDP since 2019.
"When Mehbooba Mufti wanted to protest for Palestine, she was almost manhandled... She was not allowed to protest peacefully. I want to ask why the local administration here has consistently since 2019 cracking down on the PDP. You denounce us as anti-national. But the activities that we want to do are peaceful," Iltija Mufti said.
Iltija's remarks came amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war that has so far claimed over 5,000 lives.
India has strongly condemned the terror attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel on October 7, leading to a war, which has now extended into its 18th day.
"Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour," Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on social media, X.
Iltija further said that at least 1,500 children have been "slaughtered" in the past two weeks.
"People across the world are coming out to support Palestinian civilians who are suffering from atrocities. They are being attacked with phosphorus bombs. At least 1,500 children have been slaughtered in the past two weeks," she said.
At least 5,087 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
Mehbooba Mufti, earlier on October 21 protested against Israel amid the West Asian nation's war against Hamas.
Mehbooba Mufti and other protesters raised the slogans of "Israel go back" during the protest.
"1,500 children have been killed in Palestine. Thousands of innocent people have been killed in Palestine. The world is watching like a spectator. The world was screaming when kids were killed in Ukraine amid their war with Russia. Now, thousands of people have been killed in Palestine and no one is talking about it. We urge the nations of the world to pressure Israel to a ceasefire. Atrocities are being committed in Palestine. Israel is committing Holocaust-like crimes against Palestinians. This could worsen the situation in the long run. Israelis must leave Palestine," Mehbooba Mufti said.
Speaking to the media reporters here over the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the National Conference (NC) Vice President said that innocent people are being killed in Gaza bombings.
"... Since the first day, we have been opposing what is happening in Gaza. Innocent people are being killed in Gaza bombings... The world has proved that there are different laws for Russia and Israel..." Abdullah said.
Questioning the international community while addressing the media persons, he asked, "What Russia did to Ukraine was a war crime; then what Israel is doing to Gaza is not wrong? Both things cannot be correct. Now the world will have to decide what is right..." Abdullah said.
