New Delhi [India], July 23 : After the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 exam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lashed out at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for allegedly misleading and provoking the students of the country.
"After this historic judgement of the Supreme Court, I would like to say Satyameva Jayate," he said.
Holding a press conference in New Delhi hours after the apex court on Tuesday declined to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 exam, Dharmendra Pradhan attacked Rahul Gandhi, saying, "When the NEET matter came to light, the opposition's role became clear after the Supreme Court's judgement today."
"The attitude that the Lok Sabha LoP (Rahul Gandhi) had adopted until yesterday, invalidating the examination system of the country and calling it "rubbish" proves his mental status...Criticising this, Rahul Gandhi has criticised India. Misleading the students of the country, creating confusion and provoking them for social tensions were all planned part of his politics," Pradhan said in a latest attack on Rahul Gandhi.
He also appealed to the opposition to apologise to the students and their parents for their irresponsible actions.
"By rejecting the electoral results in the country, anarchy and civil unrest have become part of his strategy. I appeal to him and all people of opposition who were involved in such irresponsible actions: they should apologise to the students, youth and parents of the country...," the Union Minister said.
The senior BJP leader accused the Congress MP of conspiring to spread civil unrest in the country, highlighting that there can be a difference of opinion in the politics but students belong to everyone.
He added, "You (Rahul Gandhi) have hurt the country, attempted to create anarchy in the country, and conspired to cause civil unrest in the country. The country will not forgive you. Political rivalry can be different, but students belong to everyone..."
Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that NEET is an important issue and the opposition will keep pressuring the government over the issue.
"Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should have responded. He spoke about the Supreme Court and PM Modi but he is not able to say what is he doing on this. NEET is a very important issue for the youth. We have always asked for discussion in the Parliament but the government is not interested. We will keep raising this issue and keep pressuring the government," Rahul Gandhi told reporters outside the Parliament.
