Madurai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 22 : The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court has directed the state government to file detailed counter affidavits on petitions filed by Arunkumar, one of the victims of the Ambasamudram custodial torture case.
Arunkumar filed a petition stating that the Police brutally assaulted him by filing a false case and illegally detaining him at Ambasamudram police station in Madurai.
Arunkumar has alleged that four of his teeth were broken and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Balveer Singh tortured some of the detainees by pulling out their teeth as well and later guards put them in jail.
The case is currently being investigated by the CBCID police. The incident came to light when five brothers came openly and posted videos on social media.
However, Tamil NADU Chief Minister MK Stalin on March 29 informed the state assembly that Balveer Singh who has been suspected of custodial torture has been suspended.
"A proper investigation will be conducted into the incident and the guilty will not be spared," Stalin had said.
