Amritsar: Punjab Police foils smuggling plot; two held, illegal arms recovered

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], November 8 : Two persons were arrested and four weapons were recovered as the Punjab Police foiled a major smuggling plot in Amritsar, the police said on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Aditya Kapoor (Makhan) and Ravinder Singh.
The police have recovered four weapons from the possession of the accused, including a Glock Pistol along with 5 magazines and 14 rounds.
As per the preliminary investigation, 12 criminal cases have already been registered against the arrested accused Aditya Kapoor and he was operating on the directions of US-based criminals Balwinder S and Prabhdeep S and Portgual-based criminal Manpreet.
The investigation reveals that these crime syndicates are rivals of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria crime syndicate.
In a social media post on X, DGP Punjab Police wrote, "In a major blow to illegal arms smuggling networks, Counter Intelligence, #Amritsar apprehends 2 persons Aditya Kapoor @ Makhan & Ravinder Singh. Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused Aditya Kapoor is having 12 criminal cases registered against him. He was operating on the directions of #USA-based criminals Balwinder S @ Doni Bal & Prabhdeep S @ Prabh Dasuwal & #Portugal-based criminal Manpreet S @ Mannu Ghanshampuria. These crime syndicates are rivals of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria organised crime syndicate."

"Recovery: 4 weapons including a Glock Pistol along with 5 magazines & 14 rounds. FIR has been registered at PS SSOC, #Amritsar. Further investigations are underway to determine the previous smuggling activities carried out by the accused," the post added.
An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway in the case, the police.
Earlier, on October 31, Amritsar Commissionerate police dismantled an interstate illegal weapons smuggle module and apprehended seven operatives.
12 pistols and other ammunition were also seized by the police.
