Assam: 3 fake currency dealers arrested in Goalpara district

Goalpara (Assam) [India], August 22 : Special Task Force (STF) has apprehended three Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) dealers in Goalpara district, police said on Tuesday.
The three accused apprehended persons were identified as Md Anowar Hussain (52), Md Rafique Ahmed (47) and Md Krowel Marak (35).
"Acting upon a reliable source input provided by the Chief of the STF-Assam Partha Sarathi Mahanta with regards to a covert deal in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) to take place somewhere at Krishnai in Goalpara district, a team from STF, Assam carried out an operation on Tuesday in order to foil the deal and to apprehend the perpetrators," an official statement said.
Assam Police said that it has recovered 29 bundles of fake Indian currency notes of 500 denominations.
"During the search operation, 29 bundles of FICN of 500 denominations were recovered inside the vehicle. The FICN, the vehicle and 4 numbers of mobile handsets have been recovered and seized from their possession," the senior police official said.
"All the apprehended persons and seized items were handed over to the Krishnai police station for initiating necessary legal action," the official added.
A case has been registered at Krishnai police station under relevant sections of IPC.
Further investigation is underway.
