Assam: Army completes infrastructure enhancement of primary school in Tinsukia

Tinsukia (Assam) [India], October 1 : In a remarkable step towards community development, Indian Army completed an infrastructure enhancement project of a Primary School in Matiakhana Gaon of Tinsukia district in Assam, said an official release from Ministry of Defence.
The initiative has been carried out under Operation Sadhbhavna, to assist in the improvement of the learning environment for the students.
As part of the project, Army provided essential resources, including desks, benches, ceiling fans, almirahs, bookshelves for library, Office tables and chairs. These improvements will foster a comfortable and conducive learning environment.
The Principal and teachers expressed their gratitude and thanked Indian Army for their valuable contribution.
Earlier on September 28-29, the Indian Army organised the Spiti Marathon 2024, a first-of-its-kind high-altitude marathon, as part of Operation Sadbhavana, 2024. This historic event took place at the Him Yodha Military Station, Sumdo in Kaza Sub-division, Lahaul-Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh.
The Spiti Marathon aimed to highlight the Indian Army's initiatives in remote areas of Himachal Pradesh, promote local culture, and boost tourism in border areas, according to an official statement from the army.
The event showcased the vibrant villages of Spiti Valley, supporting the Government of India's Vibrant Village Programme. It also encourages physical fitness and mental robustness, fostering stronger bonds with the local population, the statement said.
This prestigious event was organised through the collaborative efforts of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, Himachal Pradesh Police and the Civil administration of Kaza Subdivision. Thus, the marathon will also serve as a medium for better Civil-Military coordination, the statement added.
