Assam CM Himanta Sharma announces new policy to offer insurance coverage upto Rs 1 crore for State govt employees

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 5 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma announced a new policy to offer insurance coverage up to Rs 1 crore for state government employees on Wednesday, the Chief Minister's Office said.
In a post on X Assam Chief Minister's Office shared, "HCM Dr @HimantaBiswa announces a new policy to offer insurance coverage for State government employees -- Rs 10 Lacs for Life Insurance, Rs 1 Crore for Personal Accidental (Death), Rs 1 Crore for Total Disability and Rs 80 Lacs for Partial Disability."
The Chief Minister's Office said that in historic meeting of the Assam Cabinet, we resolved to introduce a new insurance policy that will offer upto Rs 1 crore coverage for State Govt employees.
The CMO shared, "We resolved to introduce a new insurance policy that will offer upto Rs 1 crore coverage for State government employees. Offer 20% bonus for Assam Tea Corporation Ltd employees & workers. Extend Rs 200 crore Power subsidy to APDCL for the benefit of economically weaker consumers. Establish Assam's third Taj Hotel in Jagiroad. Amend the State's Startup & Industrial Policy."
CMO said that the Assam Cabinet key decisions include enhanced insurance coverage for state government employees.
The CMO further said that to ensure financial stability of State Govt employees and/or their family members in the unfortunate event of their death or disability, Cabinet has accorded approval to signing of an MoU with State Bank of India or any other Scheduled Commercial Bank having salary account of State Govt employees to provide zero-premium based insurance coverage with the following details:
"In case of accidental death: Rs 1 crore, In case of permanent disability: Rs 1 crore, In case of partial disability: Rs 80 lakhs, In case of death in service due to any illness: Rs 10 lakhs. This insurance coverage will be over and above the regular benefits applicable to State Govt employees," the CMO added.
Earlier, CM Himanta Biswa Sharma briefed the media on the historic decision of the Assam Cabinet to accept 57 of the 67 recommendations of the Justice (retd) Biplab Sarma Commission on the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.
"Today marks a historic milestone for Assam as the Cabinet has approved 57 out of 67 recommendations from the Justice (retd) Biplab Sarma Commission. This stands as one of the most significant efforts since Independence to protect the rights of the people of Assam," the CMO shared.
