Assam CM to hoist National Flag on Republic Day in Dibrugarh, I-Day in Guwahati

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 7 : The Assam government said in a notification that the Chief Minister shall hoist the National Flag on Republic Day at Dibrugarh in view of the establishment of the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Dibrugarh and in the larger public interest.
The CM will continue to hoist the National Flag on Independence Day in Guwahati.

This comes a day after CM Sarma completed his first day at the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Dibrugarh, inaugurated on September 6.
The notification issued by the commissioner and secretary to the government of the Assam General Administration Department on September 6 said, "In view of the establishment of the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Dibrugarh and in the larger public interest, it is hereby notified that on Republic Day (26th January), the Hon'ble Chief Minister shall hoist the National Flag in Dibrugarh. An officer of the rank of Additional Chief Secretary and Special DGP/Addl. DGP shall assist the Hon'ble Chief Minister in Dibrugarh."
"The Hon'ble Governor would kindly continue to hoist the National Flag in Guwahati on Republic Day (26th January) at the state-level ceremonial function organised by the Government of Assam. The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police shall be present at the central function in Guwahati, Kamrup (M), to assist the Hon'ble Governor of Assam, However, in the event the Hon'ble Governor is unable to hoist the National Flag in Guwahati on Republic Day, the Hon'ble Chief Minister takes on the responsibility of hoisting the National Flag in Guwahati and depute a senior minister for hoisting the flag in Dibrugarh," it added.
Regarding the state-level ceremonial function on Independence Day (15th August), the Chief Minister of Assam shall continue to hoist the National Flag in Guwahati, the notification added.
This notification shall come into force with immediate effect.
