Assam enthusiastically celebrated International Yoga Day

Guwahati (Assam) [India], June 22 : On the occasion of the 10th International Day of Yoga, people all over Assam enthusiastically celebrated the art of healthy living on Friday.
Many organisations and departments conducted early morning Yoga events beneath the cloudy skies.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal joined the Yoga Day celebrations in Tinsukia. He was accompanied by Rameswar Teli (former Union Minister), Sanjay Kishan (Assam Government Minister), Vijay Kumar (The Chairman of Inland Waterways Authority of India) and other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his cabinet colleagues Ashok Singhal and Keshab Mahanta participated in the state celebrations of the 10th International Day of Yoga at Tezpur in the Sonitpur district.
In Guwahati, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria along with Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog participated in the International Yoga Day celebration.
Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass participated in the Yoga Day celebration in Bajali.
NTPC Bongaigaon marked International Yoga Day with a mass yoga session at its premises. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 individuals, including officers, employees, representatives of the union and association, family members and members of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and associates.
The session was conducted by Rubul Das, a certified yoga guru and jawan from the CISF, NTPC Bongaigaon unit.
Induri S Reddy, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon led the yoga session and addressed the gathering. He emphasized the importance of yoga in achieving holistic well-being and fostering a sense of global unity.
Similarly, Northern Frontier Railways celebrated International Yoga Day at the NFRSA Indoor stadium. Chetan Kumar Shrivastva, General Manager at NFR was joined by other senior railway officials and staff to perform Yoga at the venue.
India Tourism Guwahati, in association with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, celebrated the International Day of Yoga in KASA Indoor Stadium Diphu. Around 500 people participated in the energizing yoga session. Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council & Madhumita Bhagawati, Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Assam were present on the occasion.
The Food Corporation of India, Zonal office also organized a yoga session for the employees on its premises. The Yoga session was held emphasising on the need for maintaining mental and spiritual well-being.
Similarly, Border Security Force, Guwahati Frontier and Central Armed Police Forces Composite Hospital Patgaon, NCC cadets participated in a collective yoga session. In the Yoga activities held in the office of Defence, Guwahati, doctors, nursing officers and paramedical staff of 151 Base Hospital participated.
All the events highlighted the collective commitment to promoting health and wellness through yoga.
This year's theme, "Yoga for Self and Society," highlights the importance of yoga in enhancing personal and communal well-being.
