Assam: Kamrup district admin & Guwahati police hold meeting with Chhath Puja committees, instruct to follow guidelines

Guwahati [India], November 4 : Ahead of the Chhath Puja celebration, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration and Guwahati city police on Monday held a crucial meeting with the Chhath Puja celebration committees of the city and instructed to follow the guidelines.
The district administration has issued several guidelines and instructions including CCTV installation, to ensure adequate illumination, promote eco-friendly materials, ensure fire safety, guarding of puja ghats, safety precautions in water bodies, no tobacco and no alcohol zones etc and directed the puja committees to follow the instructions and guidelines.
Diganta Barah, Commissioner of Police of Guwahati told ANI that, there are seven ghats of Chhath Puja in Guwahati.
"Today the administration has called all puja celebration committees to inform about safety and security measures. The administration has issued advisory for the puja committees. We have decided that, the administration and puja committees will ensure that the puja goes well and there will be no untoward situation," Diganta Barah said.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing in Guwahati to celebrate Chhath Puja and renovation works at ghats are underway and labourers are engaged to make temporary structures.
On the other hand, people have thronged to the market to purchase various items, fruits etc for Chhath Puja celebration.
Chhath Puja witnesses a high participation rate of women, is marked with fanfare, and is also regarded as an occasion to take a break from household chores and be refreshed. It is primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal, as well as by the diaspora from these regions.
Chhath Puja spans over four days and is one of the most significant and rigorous festivals, involving strict rituals and fasting to express gratitude to the Sun God for sustaining life on Earth.
