Bathinda leads voter turnout in Punjab with 48.95 pc by 3 pm: District Election Officer

Bathinda (Punjab) [India], June 1 : Bathinda is leading Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab in vote percentage with 48.95 per cent voter turnout recorded till 3 pm on Saturday.
District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh commended the citizens for their enthusiastic participation in the electoral process.
In his statement, Singh emphasized the smooth conduct of the election in Bathinda, noting that no incidents of violence or malfunctions of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) had been reported.
"The voting process has been peaceful and efficient. We have not encountered any issues with EVMs, ensuring that every vote counts without interruption," he said.
Singh also made a fervent appeal to the remaining voters to exercise their democratic rights.
"I urge all voters to come out and cast their vote in large numbers. Your participation is crucial in shaping the future of our district and our state. Let's make our voices heard and our votes count," he encouraged.
As the day progresses, election officials remain hopeful that the final turnout will set a new benchmark for the state.
The seventh and the final phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections on June 1 across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh saw a voter turnout of 49.68 per cent till 3 pm, the Election Commission (ECI) said on Saturday.
As per the ECI, Jharkhand is leading the voter turnout charts at 60.14 per cent till 3 pm.
Other states where polling is underway in the seventh phase are Bihar- 42.95 per cent, Chandigarh--52.61 per cent, Odisha--49.77 per cent, Punjab--46.38 per cent, Uttar Pradesh--46.83 per cent and West Bengal--58.46 per cent, Himachal Pradesh 58.41 per cent.
The polling of the last phase started on Saturday at 7 am in the 57 parliamentary constituencies spread across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. According to the Election Commission of India, over 10.06 crore electors including approximately 5.24 crore male, 4.82 crore female and 3574 third gender electors are expected to exercise their franchise.
