Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], January 2 : TMC leader Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday said that the West Bengal Congress is playing the role of broker for BJP in the state at a time when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is helping the national leadership of Congress.
TMC leader Ghosh said that the state Congress is providing oxygen to the BJP in West Bengal.
"Process for seat sharing is underway, National leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee are looking into it. 'Bengal Congress ka ek section BJP ka dalali kar rhe hein'. (One section of Bengal Congres is playing the role of broker for BJP)," Kunal Ghosh told ANI.
Recalling the results of the previous Assembly elections in 2021, the TMC leader said, "In 2021, While TMC was defeating BJP, the Congress in Bengal allied with CPI(M) for vote division and to give oxygen to BJP, but they got zero."
He further urged the national leadership of the Congress to intervene in the matter.
"Congress's national leadership must look into this. Mamata Banerjee is helping you (Congress) to remove BJP in Delhi and your Bengal unit and their President are giving oxygen to BJP," he said.
Earlier, Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay on Monday urged the opposition alliance to take all steps required to remove the NDA government and bring the INDI Alliance to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
"To remove the NDA government and bring INDIA Alliance to power, we should take all steps required. The TMC in West Bengal should take the necessary steps to succeed in 42 seats and participate in the democratic process to advance the party," Bandyopadhyay said.
The opposition parties have forged forces to put up a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls under the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance umbrella.
