Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 20 : Given the increasing demand for the availability of hostels for students on the university campus, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is constructing new hostels and renovating the ancient buildings. After the renovation of the heritage building Charu Mahal, which is nearly 150 years old, it has been allotted to Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya.
Availability of hostels has been a challenge for a long time for the students of Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya, run by the university. Established in the year 1883, the school came under Banaras Hindu University in 1918.
Now, the problem of the hostel for school has been solved with the renovation of Charu Mahal. After the development of the necessary facilities, it has been allotted to the school as a hostel. The building has 20 flats and 52 rooms, and hostel seats will be available to 120 students here. The renovation work of this building was completed on a priority basis by BHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain.
Taking to its official X handle, Banaras Hindu University posted about the new hostel and said, "BHU's iconic Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya has got a new hostel with 120 seating capacity. The heritage building Charu Mahal has been allotted to the school after its renovation and development of necessary student amenities."
In another post, it said, "The building is said to be nearly 150 years old and has assumed the status of a heritage building. It has 20 flats and 52 rooms and was underutilised. Charu Mahal has been renovated on priority at the initiative of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain."
Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain said that the university gives top priority to the needs of students. He said, "The needs of school students who go to other cities for studies are different from those of university students. In such a situation, we gave priority to the work of providing hostel facilities in Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya. We are fully committed to the development of infrastructure and facilities are continuously working in this direction."
Dr Anand Kumar Jain, Principal of Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya, said that this two-storey building was not in very good condition and neither was its capacity being fully utilized. "Now, the students will benefit a lot by renovating this building and allocating it to the school," Dr Jain said.
