"Big conspiracy against country": Akhilesh Yadav attacks Centre over lateral entry in govt jobs

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 19 : Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Centre over lateral entry into government jobs and said that this is a "big conspiracy" against the country.
The SP MP alleged that the lateral entry is a plan to snatch away the reservation and rights from PDA (Pichhde, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak).
"The time has come to launch a nationwide movement against the conspiracy being hatched by the BJP to place its ideological allies in high government positions through the back door in UPSC. This method will close the doors for today's officers as well as for the youth to reach higher positions in the present and future. Common people will be limited to the positions of clerks and peons. In fact, the whole plan is to snatch away reservations and rights from PDA," the SP chief posted on X.
Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP-led central government should immediately withdraw the lateral entry because it is not in the national interest.
"Now that BJP has come to know that PDAs across the country have woken up against BJP's ploy to abolish the Constitution, it wants to deny reservation by making direct recruitment to such posts under some other pretext. The BJP government should immediately withdraw it because it is not in the national interest," he said.
"The BJP wants to get arbitrary work done by keeping officials of its own party ideology in the government. Such people who become officials by the grace of the government can never be impartial. The integrity of such people will always be questioned," the SP leader added.
He further requested the youth and officials of the country to participate in a new movement from October 2, if the BJP government does not withdraw the lateral entry.
"Officials and youth across the country are requested that if the BJP government does not withdraw it, then stand shoulder to shoulder with us in starting a new movement from 2 October. We will not tolerate the corporate takeover of the government machinery because the capitalist thinking of rich corporations is to earn maximum profit. Such thinking depends on the exploitation of others, whereas our 'socialist thinking' is about the nourishment and welfare of the poor, farmers, labourers, employed, and common people doing their small work-business-shop. This is a big conspiracy against the country," he said.
The UPSC recently announced a notification for recruiting Joint Secretaries, Directors, and Deputy Secretaries through lateral entry. This decision has ignited criticism from opposition parties, who claim it undermines the reservation rights of OBCs, SCs, and STs.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also expressed concerns over the lateral entry of individuals into top government positions on Sunday, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is appointing public servants through the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) rather than following the traditional Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) route.
Congress leader in a post on 'X' said, "Narendra Modi is attacking the Constitution by recruiting public servants through 'Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh' instead of Union Public Service Commission."
"Reservation of SC, ST and OBC categories is being openly snatched away by recruiting through lateral entry on important posts in various ministries of the central government," Rahul Gandhi said on X.
