"Big day for me...going to get a big responsibility": Chirag Paswan

New Delhi [India], June 9 : Ahead of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's oath ceremony, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said that this is a "big day" for him and he is going to get a "big responsibility."
He also thanked PM Modi for bestowing trust in him and said he will try to live up to the expectations of the people.
"Today is a big day for me, I am going to get a big responsibility... PM Modi's trust in me matters a lot to me...I will try to live up to the expectations of the people with all my hard work and potential," he told reporters on Monday.
Earlier, Paswan was elected as the LJP (Ram Vilas) Parliamentary Party leader.
A total of five LJP (Ram Vilas) MPs won the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar: Veena Devi, Arun Bharti, Shambhavi Choudhary and Rajesh Verma and Chirag Paswan.
Earlier, while speaking to media, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan affirmed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) stands "united" and will soon form the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chirag Paswan won the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP won 240 seats on its own. In the 543-strong lower house of the Indian parliament, 272 is the minimum majority figure.
Notably, PM Modi is the second Indian leader to win a third term after founding prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
In Bihar, BJP-led NDA delivered a fine performance, winning 29 out of the 40 seats. BJP and JDU won 12 seats each, while LJP (Ram Vilas) won all the five seats it contested. The RJD and Congress won four and three seats respectively.
The former actor is currently serving as the 1st president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) since 2021. He was also the 2nd president of Lok Janshakti Party from 2019 to 2021.
Chirag Paswan is the son of late MP and former Union Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan. Chirag Paswan contested the 2014 elections for the Lok Janshakti Party in the seat of Jamui. He won the seat, defeating the nearest rival Sudhansu Shekhar Bhaskar of Rashtriya Janata Dal by over 85,000 votes. Paswan retained his seat in the 2019 elections, securing a total of 5,28,771 votes and defeating nearest rival Bhudeo Choudhary.
