Nawada (Bihar) [India], October 5 : BJP MP Vivek Thakur, responding to the opposition's claims that the government is indifferent to rising crime rates and floods, asserted on Saturday that the administration is actively addressing these concerns.
"Does Lalu Yadav's family talk about the flood? These politicians don't have time to visit and travel to foreign places. So they are only talking on the phone and posting on social media. Have you seen such politicians?" he said.
Thakur also addressed the criticism surrounding the recent floods in the region. He countered opposition leader Misa Bharti who had accused the state government of negligence.
"What do they know, do they know that the government has already given 350 crore and is going into people's accounts? Misa Bharti lives in Delhi; her brother lives in foreign places. They are putting flood situation pictures on social media from abroad. They are posting pictures of the pool from here. Do they not care about their own state? If Lalu's parivar speaks against crime, then it is a laughable matter," he said.
Earlier today, Misa Bharati came down heavily on the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led government over the flood situations in parts of Bihar and said that the government took action when the water levels started receding but remained inactive during the crisis.
"It is the misfortune of this state that the Chief Minister and government go for an assessment when the water level starts going down. When there was a flood situation, the government was sleeping. Only opposition leaders, office bearers and workers are working. If we look at the ground level, people of only the INDIA alliance were with the people and sending them help. The government was sleeping," the RJD leader said.
