Bihar CM offers prayers at Shitala Mata temple in Patna on 'Maha Ashtami'

Patna (Bihar) [India], October 22 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday offered prayers at the Shitala Mata temple in Patna on the occasion of 'Maha Ashtami', which is the eighth day of the Navratri festival.
CM Nitish Kumar also performed 'aarti' at the temple.
Earlier on Saturday, he visited a 'Durga Pandal' in Patna and offered prayers.
Taking to 'X', the Chief Minister wrote, "On the occasion of 'Maha Saptami', I visited the 'Navyuvak Sangh Shri Durga Pandal, Durga Puja Samiti Khajpura pandal in the 'Dakbangla road' in Patna and also, Shri Shri Durga Puja Samiti's Durga Aashram Pandal in Patna's Sheikhpura and prayed for happiness, peace and prosperity of the state".

Meanwhile, on the eighth day of Navratri (Maha Ashtami), an early morning 'aarti' was performed at Delhi's Jhadewalan temple.
Devotees gathered in huge numbers at the temple to take part in the 'aarti' and offered prayers to Goddess Durga.
Morning 'aarti' was also performed at Kalkaji temple in Delhi today.
As the priests recited the prayers, the temple echoed with the melody.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to 'X' and extended greetings on the occasion of 'Maha Ashtami'.

"Today is the holy day of special worship of Mother Mahagauri. It is a request to the Mother Goddess, who is compassionate and infallibly fruitful, to bless all her devotees and provide them with welfare", he wrote in an 'X' post.
The eighth day of the Navratri festival is dedicated to the eighth form of Maa Durga - Maa Mahagauri, a symbol of purity, serenity and tranquillity.
The festival of Navratri honours the defeat of the demonic Mahishasura and the triumph of good over evil. The 10th day of Sharad Navratri is celebrated as Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami.
