Bihar: Mahagathbandhan alliance announces candidates for upcoming bypolls

Bihar (Patna) [India], October 20 : The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar on Sunday announced its candidates for the upcoming by-elections in four assembly seats on October 20.

Roshan Kumar Majhi has been nominated from Imamganj, Vishwanath Kumar Singh has been fielded from Belaganj, Ajit Kumar Singh from Ramgarh and Raju Yadav from Tarari.

The bypolls are spread over 15 states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the RJD state office, attended by RJD State President Jagdanand Singh, Congress State President Dr. Akhilesh Singh, and leaders from the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Earlier on October 15, Election Commission announced bypolls to 48 assembly constituencies including nine seats in Uttar Pradesh and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala.

While polling will be held on 47 assembly seats and Wayanad Lok Sabha seat on November 13, it will be held on one assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and Nanded constituency in Maharashtra on November 20.

The largest number of bypolls will be held in Uttar Pradesh and seats going to the polls are Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, Katehari, Majhawan, and Sishamau.

The assembly elections in Bihar are likely to be held in October-November 2025.
