Bihar: STFs of Kolkata, Bihar unearth illegal arms manufacturing unit in Gaya; 2 detained, owner absconding

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 6 : The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police, in a joint operation with its counterparts in Bihar, on Thursday unearthed an illegal improvised active firearms (Pistol) manufacturing unit operating in Gaya.
According to the police, the illegal improvised firearms manufacturing unit was operating in the guise of a furniture shop by the name of 'Baba Furniture' owned by Mukesh Kumar situated at Ranibigha village in the Tekari police station area of Gaya district.
During the joint search operation, a large number of items, which go into the making of improvised firearms (pistol), huge numbers of iron bars, a cutting device, a milling device, a lathe machine, a grinding device, and other tools and machinery used for manufacturing those improvised firearms were recovered and seized from the unit.
Further, according to the police, two Munger-based skilled workers were detained from the spot while the owner of the house and the illegal firearms manufacturing unit, which operated from the property, Mukesh Kumar, is absconding.
The detained persons were identified as Md. Anwar Khan and Biru Kumar.
"The detained persons were arrested and a case was registered under the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act," an officer said.
Further investigation is underway, police said.
