BJP accuses Delhi education minister of establishing 'political connections with parents' in PTMs
Jul 27, 2024
New Delhi [India], July 27 : Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokespersons Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Shikha Rai alleged that in the name of Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs), a "drama" is unfolding in Delhi government schools, with Education Minister Atishi attempting to establish political connections with parents.
Praveen Shankar Kapoor stated, "Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are a standard part of the educational system. PTMs are held in every school in Delhi, the country, and the world, but there's no drama over them like in Delhi government schools."
The attendance of ministers and MLAs at school PTMs is merely an attempt to politically exploit the education system, which is condemnable. Today, Education Minister Atishi visited schools in her electoral constituency, Kalkaji, and tried to establish political connections with parents but was unsuccessful, as the people of Kalkaji have completely rejected the Aam Aadmi Party twice in the 2022 municipal elections and again in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
BJP spokespersons further alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is not running a government but a shop of corruption and an event management company adept at creating drama over education, health, and public welfare.
Delhi BJP spokespersons said, "In PTMs, parents in municipal corporation schools wanted to know when the school uniforms would be provided, and parents in government schools were concerned about the increasing failure rates. However, the Education Minister and school administration were insistent on getting applause for themselves, and ultimately today's PTM was meaningless."
Earlier, Delhi BJP Secretary and MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Delhi Minister Atishi of spreading lies and misinformation regarding the allocation to the national capital in the Union Budget 2024.
"Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has responded to the lies of Atishi and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders three times, clearly stating that in the last 10 years, the central government has either undertaken development works worth Rs 5.5 lakh crore in Delhi or provided grants under various heads. However, Minister Atishi is not refraining from playing the game of lies and misinformation," Bansuri Swaraj said in a press release.
