BJP CEC meeting concludes in Delhi, party discusses candidates for Telangana, Rajasthan assembly polls

New Delhi [India], October 21 : Ahead of the crucial assembly elections in Telangana and Rajasthan, the BJP Central Election Committee (CEC) concluded its meeting at the party's headquarters here in the national capital late on Friday evening.
PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with other senior leaders were present in the meeting which was meant to finalise candidates for the upcoming Telangana assembly elections and remaining candidates for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The upcoming assembly election in Telangana is poised for a triangular contest, with the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and the Congress as the major contenders.
Visuals showed PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Shah, and BJP President Nadda leaving the BJP headquarters after concluding the CEC meeting late on Friday evening.
Earlier in the day, a meeting of the BJP Central Election Committee on Rajasthan elections was also convened at the party's headquarters in Delhi. PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with CEC members and former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje were present at the meeting.
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also attended the meeting.
Polls will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25 and Telangana on November 30. The Election Commission has announced that the first phase of polling for 20 seats in Chhattisgarh will be held on November 7, and the remaining 70 seats in Chhattisgarh will go to polls on November 17.
The counting of votes will take place on December 3 in all the states. Of the five states, polling in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with the announcement of poll dates. The elections to five states are crucial as they are being held months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May next year.
