BJP doing "fashion parade" to deviate from issues of "roti-kapda-makaan": Kunal Ghosh on PM's Tejas sortie

West Bengal (Kolkata) [India], November 27 : Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking a sortie on Tejas aircraft in Bengaluru, Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the intention behind his "fashion parade" is to deviate from common man's issues in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"What are his (PM Modi's) intentions? What is his intention behind his fashion parade, wearing make-up, taking sorties on Tejas? Tejas is not the subject. It is his wrong intention. He is deviating from the issues of 'roti-kapda-makaan' (food-clothing-house) by giving clarion calls of war," Ghosh said while speaking to ANI on Monday.
Ghosh said that the Prime Minister's sortie is not about Tejas but a reaction after sensing that they (Bharatiya Janata Party) will lose in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"Tejas is a fighter plane. The problem is that Lok Sabha elections are approaching. BJP's policies are anti-people policies. So, the BJP can sense that it will lose. This is not about Tejas," he said.
Condemning the BJP, Ghosh said, "BJP is doing politics in the name of religion, sometimes in the name of youth and ultra-nationalism."
Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Venkateswara Swamy Temple, the TMC spokesperson said, "He has become a bahurupi (masquerade). Elections are coming. So he is putting on various make-ups one by one and engaging in the 'play'."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the famous Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati and offered his prayers on Monday.
Questioning Prime Minister Narednra Modi's absence at the site of the tunnel collapse in Uttarkashi, Ghosh said, "So many labourers are trapped in the tunnel. Narendra Modi has not gone there for even a day. At times he goes to the cricket stadium and sometimes he is posing in a fighter plane."
After a portion of the Uttarkashi tunnel caved in on November 12, the debris falling in the 60-metre stretch on the Silkyara side of the tunnel trapped 41 labourers inside the under-construction structure.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sortie on a Tejas fighter aircraft in Bengaluru on Saturday during his visit to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited site.
Prime Minister took to social media platform X to share his experience of taking a sortie of the Tejas fighter
"Successfully completed a sortie on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering my confidence in our country's indigenous capabilities, and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential", Prime Minister said in a post on X.
