Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 14 : Former President All India Mahila Congress Shoba Oza has slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government claiming that BJP has given only scams in the name of employment in Madhya Pradesh.
Oza made the remark while addressing the media persons at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi on Saturday.
"Today, the youth of Madhya Pradesh is completely ruined. There are over two crore youths in the state who have no employment. The BJP government has given only scams in the name of employment in the last 18 years in the state. Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a shameful era of massive unemployment, students committing suicides and scams in the last 18 years," Oza said.
She further said that various types of mafias, be it liquor mafia or sand mafia, education mafia or others continued to flourish in the state under the protection of the BJP government.
"Madhya Pradesh is a state where nothing has come in the name of investment in the last 18 years. Crores of rupees were spent on events like Global Investor Meet but nothing came in the name of investment in the state. The youths of Madhya Pradesh were deprived not only of government jobs but also of private jobs. It is shameful that 17,000 students and unemployed people have committed suicide in the last 17 years in the state," the Congress leader said.
Meanwhile, talking about higher education in the state, she claimed that the condition was quite bad, and around 70 lakh youths in the state were deprived of higher education.
"The condition of higher education in Madhya Pradesh is very bad. There are around 70 lakh youths in the state who are deprived of higher education. Besides, the condition of school education is very pathetic. There are no teachers in over 2600 schools in the state. There are about 7700 such schools where there is only one teacher while the posts of 50,000 teachers are vacant in the state," she added.
"The Congress is very sensitive about the future of the youth in the state. If the Congress is voted to power in the state, it will send the scamsters to jail and will improve the future of the youth," Congress leader Oza said.
She further added that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also announced 'Padho Padhao Yojana', under which many students would get a lot of help in getting an education.
Recently, Priyanka Gandhi announced the 'Padho Padhao Yojana' while addressing a public gathering in Mandla district on Thursday. Under this Yojana, for the students of classes 1-8, a monthly aid of Rs 500 has been announced. Similarly, Rs 1000 a month for students of classes 9, 10 and Rs 1500 a month for classes 11 and 12 students.
On the other hand, BJP state Secretary Rajneesh Agarwal hit back at Congress leader Oza's remark saying the youth of the state were actively giving their support and cooperation to the BJP.
"In these 18 years, four civic body elections, four assembly elections and four Lok Sabha elections were held and the BJP got the maximum votes in all these elections. The youths of the state have been actively giving their support and cooperation to BJP," Agarwal said.
The condition of the Congress Party is such that the youth in their party itself are disappointed and getting politically frustrated because the command is in the hands of 76-year-old Kamal Nath, Agarwal added.
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to undergo assembly polls on November 17. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 constituencies. The election would be conducted in one phase in the state and the counting would be done on December 3.
