Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], November 24 : DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan launched fresh attacks on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alleged that the party has no political morals adding that they somehow "manipulate their victory through unlawful means."
Speaking to ANI, Elangovan said, "BJP has no political morals. They tried to break Jharkhand and they admitted the senior leader of JMM (Champai Soren) into their party. What they do is purchase MLAs and break the political parties. They somehow manipulate their victory through unlawful means but ultimately the people have understood that the BJP is more dangerous than any other party in the state."
"They are watching what is happening in Manipur. So they defeated the BJP alliance. We welcome this and we wish the new Jharkhand Chief Minister all the best."Meanwhile, earlier today, Congress MP and Jharkhand Election co-in charge Saptagiri Ulaka said that the alliance government would try to come up to the expectations of the people and try to fulfil all the promises in the manifesto," he added.
Saptagiri Ulaka said, "Congress performed very well I the tribal belt. We won 7 tribal seats and two SC seats. I wish to thank the people of Jharkhand for bringing us to power. We will try to come up to their expectations. The alliance government will work for the progress of the people. We have called for a CLP meeting and the meeting of the INDIA alliance will take place at 11 am and then decide the future course of action."
He said that the letter of support would be submitted to the governor today itself.
"We hope that the swearing ceremony will be conducted very soon and it will be a strong government. It was a pre-poll alliance. Congress and RJD have performed well including the left parties. We will try to fulfil all our manifesto promises. The formula will remain the same in government formation like the last time which was one minister for every four MLA. The final decision will be by party high command," he added.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 34 seats, with its allies winning 22 seats. Among JMM's allies, the Congress won 16 seats, RJD four seats, and CPI-ML two seats. The BJP won 21 seats, and its allies AJSU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and JD-U won one each.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led alliance is set to retain power in the State where assembly polls were conducted in two phases. The first phase was held on November 13 and the second phase on November 20.
