New Delhi [India], September 5 : Exuding confidence in winning the Haryana assembly polls, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda said on Thursday that both the BJP leadership and Khattar Sahib know that the BJP is going and Congress will win here.
Soon after attending the Haryana sub-committee meeting held on Thursday at Himachal Bhawan in New Delhi, Hooda said, "People of Haryana have decided that they will form Congress government in the state. Both the BJP leadership and Khattar sahib know this. BJP workers recognize that they are not getting respect in the party and the party has no future in the state."
"The party's internal assessment, reports from the ground and media reports suggest BJP is going and Congress will win in Haryana," he added.
After the meeting, RS MP Kumari Selja said, "In that (BJP's list for Assembly election candidates) you can see the frustration of the BJP. It's like that land which has gone infertile, they haven't got good candidates. They have been in power for the last 10 years and people are now leaving them and they are importing people from outside. They have already accepted defeat... Their senior leaders are missing. The CM himself won a seat four months back and that too with a good margin then what is the reason that he is going to contest from another seat? There must be some weakness."
According to the BJP list, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will contest from the Ladwa constituency. Other prominent leaders included in the first list Gian Chand Gupta will contest from Panchkula, Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt, Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, Sunita Duggal from Ratia, Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur, and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna.
Meanwhile, Haryana Minister and BJP leader Ranjit Singh Chautala on Thursday resigned from the Cabinet after being denied a ticket by the party for the upcoming assembly polls.
The BJP released its first list of 67 candidates on Wednesday for the 90-member assembly.
Ranjit Chautala, brother of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, has decided to fight as an independent candidate from Rania seat.
"I will contest as an independent candidate from the Rania Assembly constituency. It is the decision of the people of my constituency. I have resigned from the minister's post. After I did not get the ticket, I took this decision," he told ANI.
The BJP has fielded Shishpal Kamboj from Rania seat in its first list of candidates.
Voting for assembly polls in Haryana will be held on October 5 and votes will be counted on October 8. Jammu and Kashmir will go the polls on September 18, 25 and October 1 and votes will also be counted on October 8.
