BJP MP G Kishan Reddy to be part of Modi 3.0 cabinet

New Delhi [India], June 9 : Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Telenagana chief G Kishan Reddy on Sunday thanked Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi for inducting him into the Cabinet that would be sworn in on Sunday in the national capital.
"Grateful to PM Narendra Modi ji for recommending my name to the President for appointment as a Cabinet Minister in the Council of Ministers. Your trust and confidence in me further my dedication towards your vision of Viksit Bharat," Kishan Reddy posted on X.
"I write to convey that the President has been pleased to accept this recommendation. The sweating in ceremony has been scheduled on Sunday 9 June 2024 at 7:15 pm in the Rashtrapati Bhawan when the President will administer the oaths of office and secrecy," the letter stated from the Cabinet Secretary, Rajiv Gauba.
"In the last 10 years, we have built 4 crores houses and we will build more in coming years. I appeal to all karyakartas to continue working to bring BJP more and more in South India. I thank all party workers in Secunderabad, booth presidents and others," Reddy said.
"In Secunderabad, Congress worked along with AIMIM. AIMIM worked behind the Congress candidate. In Telangana, in all mandal centres celebrations should be held when the oath ceremony is going on. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been given more invitations for the oath ceremony as compared to other states," he added.
Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy won from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat with 4,73,012 votes.
He was earlier a three-time MLA and BJP Floor Leader in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Assemblies.
Gangapuram Kishan Reddy hails from Ranga Reddy District, Telangana State was born in a middle-class farmers' family in 1960 to Late Gangapuram Swami Reddy and Late Andalamma.
Gangapuram Kishan Reddy started his political career as a Yuva karyakartha (youth worker) in the Janata party. He joined the BJP on its inception in the year 1980.
He entered politics very early by joining the youth wing of Janata Party and joining the BJP when the erstwhile Janasangh cadre split from the Janata Party.
In 1977, he started his political career as a Leader of the Youth wing of the Janata Party. In 1980 on the formation of the BJP from the Jana Sangh, Kishan Reddy joined the party full-time.
From 1994 to 2001 he was the National General Secretary, of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (Served three consecutive terms for seven years).
From July 2001 to August 2002, he was State Treasurer, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andhra Pradesh State Spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andhra Pradesh.
He was appointed as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (Youth wing of BJP) in 2002 when BJP was in power at the Center.
He contested as an MLA from Himayatnagar Assembly constituency in 2004 for the first time, when unfortunately the entire opposition experienced a rout.
In 2014-2018 he was elected as MLA from Amberpet Assembly Constituency, Hyderabad City.
In 2019 he won the Lok Sabha elections from Secunderabad Constituency. In May 2019, he became the Minister of State for Home Affairs and from July 2021 he is Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region.
The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303.
The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will need to rely on the support of other parties in his coalition - JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP's chief Chandrababu Naidu.
BJP fell 32 seats short of the 272 majority mark after votes polled in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were counted. For the first time, since the Bharatiya Janata Party swept to power in 2014, it did not secure a majority on its own.
