Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 30 : Even as Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren was released from jail, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of targeting leaders who speak for marginalized communities in the state.
Soren said that former Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren talked about the poor, Dalits and Adivasis and hence, those who have looted Jharkhand for years put him in jail.
"The govt that was formed (in the state), it was a mandate for Hemant Babu in 2019 under his leadership. He talked about the poor, Dalit and Adivasis, and hence, those who have looted Jharkhand for years, they are the reasons why Hemant Babu was sent to jail,"Soren said.
"People who speak about Dalits or Adivasis here will never be allowed to live in peace by those people (BJP)," he added.
Earlier on June 28 Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Hemant Soren, who had been facing a probe in an alleged land scam case, was released from the Birsa Munda Jail following a bail order from the Jharkhand High Court.
He extended his gratitude to the people of Jharkhand, saying, "You (the people of Odisha) have always given your support, and you have also supported us enthusiastically in this election. Therefore, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of you. That's why today Hemant Babu has come among you, and we will continue to work for Jharkhand in the future."
Meanwhile, today former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren says, "Today, the situation that has been in the country, we have taken the resolution to uproot the 'Manuvaadis' & Saamantvaadis' from the country. By any means, they aren't leaving any leader of Mahagathbandhan, be it Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal or Hemant Soren, whoever opposes them, they are putting them in jail in any fake or arbitrary case..."
After being released on bail, former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren on Saturday said that the state is a land of courageous people and there is no need to be scared from anyone.
Speaking with the reporters, Soren said, "After coming out of jail after five months, I have bowed down to Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The hurdles he had to face, more or less, Adivasi, farmers, and minorities are facing a similar fate, even today."
The former Chief Minister also said, "Jharkhand is a land of courageous people. Many will try to scare us, but that is momentary, and we don't need to be scared."
He added further, "'Manuvaadi' ideas (philosophy of occupational segregation described in Manusmriti), even today are getting successes in its expansion. But, we haven't accepted our defeat and moving ahead. Whatever we have achieved has been achieved through struggle and our future generations will come forward with the strength to end this struggle. For future generations, things should progress as per their wish, culture and civilization, and we will work towards this."
