BJP will not secure majority which will result in infighting within party: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh

Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 4 : Congress leader and candidate from Rajgarh Lok Sabha seat Digvijaya Singh congratulated Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for the election results and asserted that BJP will not secure majority which will result in infighting within the party.
Digvijaya Singh said, "I congratulate Mallikarjun Kharge, under whose leadership Congress party has performed well. BJP will not secure majority. As a result, infighting will happen in BJP. As far as the Rajgarh Lok Sabha seat is concerned, polling did not happen according to my expectations. Let's see what happens."
He further lauded Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that this is the victory of his hard work and commitment towards his ideology.
"I would like to congratulate Rahul Gandhi. It is the victory of his hard work and commitment towards his ideology," he added.
As per the latest ECI trends, Digvijaya Singh is trailing from the seat by a margin of 1,05,275 votes. Counting is underway.
The veteran Congress leader is pitted against BJP's Rodmal Nagar.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP is ahead in 294 seats, while the INDIA bloc is leading in 232 seats, indicating a significant gain for the latter, according to the latest trends.
The Congress, which won merely 52 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, is currently leading in 95 seats, while the BJP is ahead in 234 seats.
The BJP had won a majority on its own in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. It won 282 seats in 2014 and improved its tally to 303 seats in the 2019 elections.
The BJP had set a target of winning 370 seats in the 2024 general elections. The BJP-led NDA, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fought the Lok Sabha elections for a third straight term in office. The Lok Sabha polls were held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1.
