"BJP will win both seats in Goa Lok Sabha polls": CM Pramod Sawant

Goa [India], April 1 : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant held a meeting with the BJP workers in Goa's Sankhali and expressed confidence that Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) will win both seats, North Goa and South Goa in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the party workers, he said, "We campaigned for the BJP candidate for South Goa, Pallavi Dempo, today. After visiting the temple, there were very successful and positive meetings in both the Sanguem and Quepem constituencies. I believe the response from the people makes us confident of winning both seats in south Goa and north Goa this time."
"The development of Sankhali is a reflection of the double-engine government's contribution towards the progress of Goa supported by #ModiKiGuarantee," Sawant said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minster Pramod Sawant also offered prayers at Shri Shantadurga Kitalkarin Fatorpa in South Goa's Quitol ahead of the Lok Sabha election campaign on Monday.
In a post on X, "Offered prayers at Shri Shantadurga Ballikarin, Fatarpekarin, Kitalkarin & Shri Damodar Sansthan, Quepem. I prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for the people of Goa."
According to the schedule, Goa will vote in just one phase on May 7 for its two Lok Sabha constituencies.
The coastal state has two Lok Sabha constituencies: North Goa and South Goa.
The BJP has won the South Goa constituency only twice since 1962. The BJP has picked Shripad Yesso Naik as its candidate from North Goa while Dempo Industries executive director Pallavi Dempo will contest from South Goa.
Dempo is the first woman to be fielded by the BJP from the coastal state in Lok Sabha election. Her name was featured on the party's fifth list.
In the 2019 general elections, the North Goa seat was won by BJP candidate Shripad Yesso Naik, while the South Goa seat was won by Congress candidate Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha.
Voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, starting on April 19 and ending on June 1. The results will be declared on June 4.
