Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], April 11 : Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country, Congress leader Kumari Selja on Thursday said that the people in the state of Uttarakhand want change on the ground which is going to be visible on all the five Lok Sabha seats.
"People want change on the ground in the state of Uttarakhand. This will be visible on all the five seats in the state of Uttarakhand," said Kumari Selja.
Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), she said, "They earlier made claims to win 70-75 seats in the Haryana legislative assembly election. But what happened? They got stuck on 40 seats. Whatever analysis they make, everyone knows that they cannot even reach somewhere near 400 seats."
Speaking on Priyanka Gandhi's upcoming visit to Uttarakhand, she said that Priyanka is going to pay a visit to Ramnagar and Roorkee on April 13.
"Not only the Congress workers are enthusiastic about it but also the people on the ground have an excitement about it," she added.
Meanwhile, addressing a public rally in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh, known as the 'Yoga Capital' of the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that even when yoga was not as popular, people across the world used to visit Rishikesh out of curiosity about it.
"Rishikesh is one of the most prominent tourist centres for people from neighbouring states. There was a time when yoga was not so popular, but even then, people from different countries used to visit Rishikesh out of curiosity about yoga," PM Modi said.
Notably, the voting for the state of Uttarakhand will be held in a single phase on April 19. Uttarakhand has been a hotly contested terrain for the BJP and Congress. Earlier in the 2014 and 2019 mega elections, the ruling BJP-led NDA clinched victory across all Lok Sabha constituencies.
