New Delhi [India], September 22 : After the passing of 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' (Women's Reservation Bill) in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP Mahila Morcha in the national capital is all set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an atmosphere of celebration at the BJP Head Quarters on Friday.
Visuals from the spot showed women dancing and celebrating the passing of the historic Women's Reservation Bill.
A woman named Alina who was a part of the celebration told ANI that the Prime Minister is doing great work for women of the nation and hopefully, he will continue this work.
"PM Modi is doing really good work and he treats all the women as equal, he respects them and does not discriminate. We hope that he continues to work like this for all women," she said.
The Upper House, on Thursday, passed the bill, which provides 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha as well as the state legislative assemblies, unanimously, with 214 members voting in support and none against.
Another woman at the BJP HQ said PM Modi has been like a brother to the women of the country and he has done historic work which none of the other governments were able to do.
"PM Modi has done a historic work which could not be done by any of the other governments...we thank him from the bottom of our hearts, half the population of the country will remain grateful to you (Modi)...He has been a brother to the women of the nation with schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Triple Talaq abolition...We will forever be grateful to him," she said.
Earlier, several women MPs across party lines set aside their differences to unequivocally call the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill, aptly titled 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam', as historic.
Following the passage of the bill in Parliament, chants of 'Modi Modi' were raised by women MPs as they took turns to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the passage of the draft legislation.
Women members from both Houses of Parliament, including PT Usha, and Union Ministers Meenakashi Lekhi and Smriti Irani, were all smiles as they presented a bouquet to Prime Minister Modi on the historic passage of the Bill in Parliament.
Later, both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the Bill aced the legislative test in the Lok Sabha as it was passed by a brute majority of 454 votes in favour and just 2 against.
The Rajya Sabha had earlier passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2010 during the Congress-led UPA government but it was not taken up in the Lok Sabha and subsequently lapsed in the lower House of Parliament.
