"BJP writing story of 'Vikas, Virasat' under PM Modi": Manoj Tiwari

New Delhi [India], May 1 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari filed nomination papers on Wednesday from the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections and said that the BJP is writing a story of Vikas (development) and Virasat (heritage) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to ANI at a roadshow here, Tiwari said, "Under the leadership of PM Modi, we are writing a new story of Vikas (development) and Virasat (heritage). A lot of things have happened under his power and will keep happening in the future as well. Our relationship with voters of the constituency is that of love and faith. We will make PM Modi, the Prime Minister again with a historic and memorable victory."
The BJP has fielded Manoj Tiwari against former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar from the North East Delhi seat.
Kanhaiya will fight the poll battle against BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari, who is the sitting MP from the seat.
North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 7 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in New Delhi. It is a General category parliament seat that comprises part of Central Delhi district and entire North East Delhi district and part of Shahdara district.
This LS constituency is currently represented by BJP's Manoj Tiwari, who secured 53.90 per cent of the votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal at her residence in the national capital on Wednesday.
Kumar later said that it was a courtesy meeting and Congress and Aam Aadmi Party were contesting all seven seats in Delhi together while saying that they were fighting for the people of Delhi.
The seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the Capital are New Delhi, South Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi, Chandni Chowk, North West and North East Delhi.
The nomination process for all seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi and the single Lok Sabha seat in neighbouring Gurgaon began on Monday.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) will issue a notification for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections and polling will take place on May 25.
The nominations will be scrutinised on May 7 and nominations can be withdrawn till May 9. Votes will be counted on June 4.
