New Delhi [India], February 5 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson CR Kesavan on Wednesday lashed out at Congress, labelling it "communal". He said that the national party has a history of "humiliating" and "insulting" Sanatan Dharma because of their need to cater to their votebank politics of religious appeasement.
The BJP spokesperson said, "It is high time Rahul Gandhi takes the entire Congress leadership to the Mahakumbh, and takes a dip to cleanse themselves."
"Congress party has a history of humiliating and insulting Sanatan Dharma because they need to pander and cater to their bigoted Vote Bank politics of religious appeasement. You saw how Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge mocked the Mahakumbh and insulted the millions of devotees taking a dip. Rahul Gandhi called the sacred 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony a 'naach-gaana event'. It is high time Rahul Gandhi takes the entire Congress leadership to the Mahakumbh, and takes a dip to cleanse themselves," Kesavan told ANI.
Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mahakumbh on Wednesday, Kesavan said that it reflects his profound respect for the deep 'Dharmik' roots of India's democracy, unlike the "communal" Congress which has contempt for Sanatan Dharma. PM Modi reveres India's culture, ethos and traditions, he added.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam at the Mahakumbh today and has prayed to Maa Bharti for the upliftment of our nation and the progress of 140 crore citizens of our country. This reflects Prime Minister Modi's profound respect and understanding for the deep 'Dharmik' roots of Bharat's democracy, unlike the communal Congress which has contempt for our Sanatan Dharma. PM Modi reveres Bharat's culture, ethos and traditions," Kesavan said.
Earlier today, PM Modi took 'Snan' at Triveni Sangam--the confluence of three rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati--and termed it a moment of 'divine' connection.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he was filled with a spirit of devotion after taking a dip in the Sangam.
"Blessed to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Snan at the Sangam is a moment of divine connection, and like the crores of others who have taken part in it, I was also filled with a spirit of devotion," PM Modi said on X.
"May Maa Ganga bless all with peace, wisdom, good health and harmony," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday offered puja at Triveni Sangam. After reaching Prayagraj, the Prime Minister took a boat tour with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Mahakumbh 2025, which commenced on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from across the globe. The Mahakumbh will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
