BJP's Ravi Shankar calls Delhi poll results "historic", says people rejected AAP's "fraud"

New Delhi [India], February 8 : BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad termed the Delhi Assembly election results as "historic," crediting the victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and said that the people of Delhi rejected the Aam Aadmi Party's "fraud".
"This is historic. The people of Delhi have chosen the double-engine government under the leadership of PM Modi and rejected the fraud of the AAP. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, all the big faces lost...", Prasad told ANI.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi's past remarks about PM Modi, he asserted that BJP's success in Milkipur by-elections reaffirmed the party's strength, particularly in the wake of discussions surrounding Ayodhya.
"Congress is again at zero... After the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi said that PM Modi cannot look him in the eye... In Milkipur also, BJP won by more than 40,000 votes... They spoke a lot about Ayodhya... but my greetings to the voters...," he added further.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh reacting to AAP's defeat called it displeasure of people against AAP which will be seen in Punjab as well.
"...The people of Delhi have expressed their displeasure against AAP...the effect of this displeasure will be seen in Punjab and other states as well...," said Singh while speaking to ANI.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won a historic mandate in Delhi polls on Saturday, returning to power in the national capital after 27 years by ousting Aam Aadmi Party with several AAP leaders including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal losing from their strongholds. The verdict came months after BJP-led coalition swept Maharashtra polls and the party won Haryana, consolidating its domination of national politics.
The Congress, which was hoping for its revival in the national captial, again failed to win any seat. The party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years from 1998, registered a hat-trick zero tally in assembly polls. BJP has won 45 of 70 seats in Delhi and is leading on three. AAP has won 21 and is leading on one seat.
